Rivalling the VW Golf and Ford Focus, the SKODA Octavia certainly stands out after exclusive images showcase its new ‘coupé’ design. Auto Express preview images of the Mk4 SKODA Octavia, which is likely to see a plug-in hybrid and 48v mild-hybrid model alongside standard petrol and diesel models.Despite getting geared up for the release of the SKODA SCALA in the first half of this year, SKODA are certainly leaving us on the edge of our seats after they announced their global biggest-selling model and unrivalled family car, the Octavia, will now have a more sportier and ‘coupé like design.

We can expect to see the new Octavia in the second half of this year; more-likely during the autumn 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The biggest difference between the current SKODA Octavia and the new Mk4 model is the styling aspect. The new model reflects sophistication through the exterior of the vehicle, right the way to the interior.

The most noticeable difference will be the side profile of the Octavia. As shown in Auto Express’ exclusive images, “the current rear design, with a long glass area and a slightly rising metal line, will be altered to give the new model more of a ‘coupé’ appearance”.

The interior will also change and comprise of upgraded materials such as; higher-grade plastics, piano black and metallic finishes, and upgraded infotainment systems.
Engine Variants of SKODA Octavia
The engine specifications for the new 2019 Octavia are two petrol models. One 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol with 114bhp, and a 1.5-litre four cylinder engine with around 148bhp. Despite SKODA dropping diesel engines from their new Fabia range, the 2019 Octavia will have three diesel engine variants with 1.6 and 2.0-litre capacities, and power outputs from 114bhp to 187bhp.
A plug-in version of the Mk4 Octavia is also set to be released and will stick closely to the specification of the Superb hybrid, which is also due in 2019.
Will there be a 2019 Octavia vRS model?
According to Auto Express, the new Octavia should get vRS performance variants, but this is yet to be confirmed by SKODA directly.
When will the new Octavia be in the UK?
After Frankfurt Motor Show, towards the end of autumn 2019 or early winter 2020.
What is the price of the new 2019 Mk4 Octavia?
Prices for the 2019 Mk4 Octavia start around £18,000 but this is also yet to be confirmed officially.
