ŠKODA have released their battery powered version of the ever-so-popular, ŠKODA Citigo.
The CITIGOe iV is the first electric car in their range and made its debut at this years' Frankfurt Motor Show. Production of the all-electric vehicle is set to start this Autumn, before going on sale in the UK early 2020.
What is the price of the new ŠKODA CITIGOe iV?
Prices for the new model have not been confirmed but ŠKODA have hinted prices for the fully-electric car will start from around £18,000.
What will ŠKODA's new electric CITIGO look like?
The CITIGOe iV's styling isn't that much different compared to the petrol models. The only real change is, of course, the fact it is electric. Other changes to its aesthetic include, body-coloured grille, smoother front bumper, and a charging socket in place of the fuel filler nozzle. You can also expect to see new alloy wheels alongside the eiV badging. LED running lights are now standard and indicators now feature on the wing mirrors.
What is the driving range of the new CITIGOe iV?
"Far more interesting is the CITIGOe iV’s powertrain. While the sole electric motor driving the front wheels is unchanged from the Volkswagen e-up! and still develops 81bhp, the battery pack swells in size compared to that car. ŠKODA claims a capacity of 36.8kWh, and with that much cell on board the brand says that the newcomer has been homologated with 165 miles of range under WLTP rules.
Maximum torque of 210Nm is served up instantly and ŠKODA claims that the CITIGOe iV is capable of a hot hatchback-rivalling 7.6 second dash to 62mph from standstill, while top speed is 81mph" [AutoExpress].
How long does the battery take to charge on the ŠKODA CITIGOe iV?
The battery takes one hour to recharge to 80 percent (when connected to a 40kW fast charger). The CITIGOe iV does not feature rapid charging technology.
What trim levels will be available on the CITIGOe iV?
"ŠKODA has confirmed two trim levels for its all-electric Citigo variant, but final UK specifications will come later. The CITIGOe iV Ambition is kitted out with 14-inch steel wheels, while a more design led model called CITIGOe iV Style gets 16-inch wheels with black accents, a silver dashboard and instrument panel, and CCS charging as standard" [AutoExpress].
